Watch two bone-crushing minutes of ‘The Raid’

Thanks to much-talked-about screenings at both the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance, martial arts flick "The Raid" has garnered a great deal of buzz leading up to its March wide release. Directed by up-and-coming action director Gareth Evans, "The Raid" tracks an elite SWAT team as they storm a heavily-fortified apartment block occupied by a ruthless and violent gang.

It sounds simple on paper (or screen), but the film easily one of the most entertaining (and violent!) action movies in years.

Before going any further, do yourself a favour and watch the red band trailer for the movie. If you survive that, treat yourself to a small taste of what Evans' film has to offer below courtesy of a clip from MakingOf. The two-minute fight scene sees SWAT officer Rama (Iko Uwais) alone, unarmed, and cornered by four machete-wielding thugs. Things get rough for all involved.

"The Raid" won the coveted Midnight Madness Audience Choice Award at TIFF last year and was extremely well received by critics and fans at Sundance. The film will screen at SXSW 2012 in Austin just prior to its March 23rd release. Evans is currently filming a sequel to the film and Sony's Screen Gems is in the process of developing an English-language remake.
