‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ trailer sees Aubrey Plaza investigate a self-proclaimed time-traveller

Internet memes have spawned all manner of terrible TV show and Web series, but it's very rare that a meme actually gives birth to a full-fledged feature film. That's exactly what happened in the case of Sundance hit "Safety Not Guaranteed," a film based on a mysterious want ad that became an Internet phenomenon due to its strange content.

The hysterical ad, placed in a newspaper by an apparent time traveller planning a trip to the past, requests "someone to go back in time with me" and warns any potential applicants that their safety is not guaranteed. Nobody knows who actually placed the original ad, but the story is so ridiculous that it almost had to be made into a movie.

The debut film of director Colin Trevorrow, "Safety Not Guaranteed" also features a trio of current TV stars, including Aubrey Plaza ("Parks & Recreation") and Jake Johnson ("The New Girl") as a pair of journalists investigating the odd want ad, along with Mark Duplass ("The League") as the self-proclaimed time traveller. Check out the trailer below.

As long as Paul Engemann's 1980s classic "Push It to the Limit" makes it into the film, the Internet will be satisfied. It's perfect time-travel training montage music.

"Safety Not Guaranteed" arrives in theatres on June 8. Must bring your own weapons.
