Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright finally head for ‘The World’s End’

The English duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are no strangers to North American audiences. The pair, along with their frequent director-collaborator Edgar Wright ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"), are arguably among Britain's most popular exports on this side of the pond.

But despite constantly working these past few years, Pegg, Frost, and Wright haven't fully collaborated since the hilarious 2007 buddy cop sendup "Hot Fuzz" -- which itself was a follow-up to their 2004 zomb-com "Shaun of the Dead." Now, the trio have announced that their long awaited reteam, "The World's End," will shoot very soon.

According to Deadline, "The World's End" (the conclusion of the loosely connected trilogy that includes "Shaun" and "Fuzz") will start shooting in September. The film will follow a group of friends who return home in an attempt to recapture their youth. The five mates undertake an epic pub crawl that they failed to finish in their younger years, with an ultimate destination of the legendary World's End pub. However, during the course of the day, they realize they may all be headed for the real world's end.

In addition to "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," Pegg and Frost have recently starred together as a pair of bumbling geeks in the sci-fi comedy "Paul" and as the equally bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson in Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin" (co-written by Wright). Together they're great, but each seems to be doing all right on his own. Pegg has found success playing comedic supporting roles in big-budget actioners like "Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," while Frost continually crops up as a supporting player in excellent movies like "The Boat That Rocked" ("Pirate Radio") and "Attack the Block." Wright's first major venture without Pegg or Frost, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," bombed at the box office but won critical acclaim and has since become something of a cult phenomenon, much like his previous films. The recent success of "Marvel's the Avengers" also means that Wright's long-in-the-works "Ant Man" film may finally get the green light.

The three have demonstrated that they can strike out separately, but magic happens when they collaborate. Whether on the small screen in the cult TV series "Spaced"(co-written by Pegg and directed by Wright) or in the cinema with movies like "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," it's sure to be a good time whenever Wright, Pegg, and Frost get together.

"The World's End" is slated for release in spring 2013.
