A cappella singer imitates symphony to record ‘Star Wars’ theme

Not long ago, in a Tallahassee, Florida, closet doubling as a recording studio, a cappella singer Nick McKaig created his own vocal version of John Williams's famous "Star Wars" main theme.

In a musical tribute to Williams, McKaig mimics all manner of musical instruments, from percussion and strings to horns and woodwinds, with only his voice. McKaig's lovingly assembled "Star Wars" cover comprises more than 90 individual tracks, forming a vocal symphony of sorts. The four-minute video took McKaig more than 300 hours to put together. See it for yourself below:

The Force is strong with this one. Uploaded to YouTube last week, McKaig's rendition of "Star Wars" has already reached nearly half a million views.

But this isn't the first time the singer's work has garnered a lot of attention online. Recorded in January, McKaig's a cappella cover of "The Simpsons" theme has netted the singer more than 900,000 views on YouTube and was recently featured on an episode of the long-running animated sitcom. You can hear more of McKaig's work, including vocal versions of the "Pokemon," "Friends," and "Family Guy" themes, on his official YouTube channel.
