Hillary Clinton rejects Jason Segel in the most awesome way possible
It has not been a good few weeks for actor/writer Jason Segel. First, his latest film "The Five-Year Engagement" flops at the box office, and to add insult to injury, the actor received rejection letter of sorts from Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State of the United States.
Rejected? By the fourth in line to the presidency? What did the "How I Met Your Mother" star do to deserve such a thing? All he did was say he'd love to make a comedy with the Secretary of State.
"I just feel like she would be good at comedy," Segel told Us Weekly in March. "I think you can feel it from a mile away."
The actor admitted that he frequently mentions the former First Lady's name on red carpets when reporters ask him to name the mysterious mother on "How I Met Your Mother." That's where all the brouhaha started, but the comic actor probably never expected to actually get a reaction from the Secretary of State. Which is exactly what makes Clinton's response so great.
Last week, Segel told talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he'd received a note from Secretary Clinton and that the news wasn't good. Clinton regretfully informed Segel that her day job kept her very busy, and as a result a collaboration would likely not be in the cards.
Politico managed to unearth Secretary Clinton's tongue-in-cheek note to Segel:
Hey, there's the silver lining: Clinton wants Muppets? Segel just so happens to be good friends with the the Jim Henson creations, having directed and starred in their most recent big screen adventure. There's hope for this collab yet!
