Zendaya's new movie Challengers has landed a UK release date for later this year.

The upcoming film, which also stars West Side Story's Mike Faist and The Crown's Josh O'Connor, comes from Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino.

It has now emerged that the film is set to hit the big screen in the UK and Ireland on September 15 this year (via Tom Linay).

Challengers sees Zendaya play a former tennis champion turned coach called Tashi Donaldson, who transforms her husband Art (Faist) into a Grand Slam champion.

However, she makes him enter a Challenger event when he hits a losing streak. There, her husband faces a surprising opponent in the form of O'Connor's character Patrick Zweig, who happens to be Art's former best friend and Tashi's ex-boyfriend.

Alongside Guadagnino directing, the movie has been be written by Justin Kuritzkes, with Zendaya and Guadignino producing.

As well as Challengers, Zendaya is lining up a return to Arrakis in Dune: Part Two, where she will return as Chani.

Last November, the actress shared a behind-the-scenes look at filming for the sequel with a picture of a desert sunset, writing on Instagram: “I know I’ve been quiet, but I’m here, just workin as usual anyway sending love from Arrakis."

Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that Faist will be appearing in a stage adaptation of Brokeback Mountain on London's West End for a limited run this year alongside Boy Erased's Lucas Hedges.

Challengers is set to be released in UK and US cinemas on September 15.
