Zack Snyder Reveals His Main Ambition For Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Obviously the DC cinematic universe is still very much in its infancy. In fact the ‘Man Of Steel’ follow-up ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ is only the second film in their burgeoning cannon.

However, there’s still a huge amount resting on the superhero hybrid, especially since director Zack Snyder needs to introduce a plethora of characters into the universe while still making it a formidable and entertaining blockbuster in its own right.

Snyder, who also directed ‘Man Of Steel’, admitted to 411Mania that while making ‘Batman v Superman’ one of his main focuses was setting up the future DC slate, especially ‘Justice League’.

“We’re working toward ‘Justice League’, and I really want to create the – part of the thing I really want to create is the possibility of a world where they could exist together,” Snyder explained.

“I think up to this point, it’s been difficult to suggest a world where Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman and others could exist in the same universe. That was one of thing things I really wanted to try and get at.”

Now, has Zack Snyder managed to introduce each of these characters in a cohesive manner akin to the comics? Or is ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ going to be bloated and unenjoyable because of its vast cast of characters?

Obviously, it’s still way too early to tell – but, rather worryingly, Snyder’s comments do suggest that ‘Justice League’ was at the forefront of his mind while he worked on ‘Batman v Superman.’

In the past, Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 3′ and Marc Webb’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ each got ideas above their cinematic stations by overly expanding their casts in anticipation of further films, which left these films floundering in a sea of mediocrity.

Snyder will not only be introducing Ben Affleck’s Batman, as well as Jeremy Irons’ Alfred, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in ‘Batman v Superman’, but Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is also set to be present too.

We’ll find out on March 25, 2016, whether Snyder has given these characters the space to flourish, and has in turn amped up anticipation for 2017 & 2018′s ‘Justice League’ films, when ‘Batman V Superman’ hits cinemas.
