I can’t believe I am about to write this, but national treasure Zac Efron—who stole the hearts of teen girls everywhere as Troy Bolton in Disney’s High School Musical—is looking to leave the country that pretty much made him the star he is today. Yep, sorry to be the one to break it to you, but if not me, then who?

According to TMZ, Zac is planning to list his Los Angeles home for sale pretty soon so he can move to Australia’s Byron Bay in New South Wales. TMZ’s sources say that Zac has become exhausted with being in the limelight and is tired of paparazzi following him everywhere he goes. He isn’t fond of being the center of attention, the source adds…interesting considering his career choice, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I understand that is devastating news, but there is a major silver lining here—Zac isn’t looking to quit acting, which, yay! While it kinda sounded like Zac wanted to escape Hollywood, that wasn’t his only reason for wanting to move.

Zac also thinks Byron Bay is significantly safer than staying in Los Angeles during the coronavirus pandemic and wants to make the move because he doesn’t expect conditions in America to get better anytime soon. (Fair, considering that COVID-19 cases are currently spiking across the country at an alarming rate.)

Reminder: Zac is still dating his girlfriend, Halston Sage, so no word on how this will affect their relationship. But hey, there’s always long-distance, amirite?
