Young fan gets last laugh after having foul ball taken away at Big Ten tournament
The worst kind of fan was on display this weekend at the Big Ten baseball tournament when an older fan took a loose foul ball away from a kid.
When a foul ball landed between a pair of empty rows, the older fan quickly sprung into action and nabbed the ball just as the kid, who was representing Ohio State, began to reach for it.
Here’s a video of what happened.

The unwritten rules of fan etiquette state that young fans take priority over older fans when it comes to things like autographs, giveaways and more importantly, foul balls.
Unfortunately, the gentleman was not following the rules when he proceeded to take the ball away and then gloat afterwards.
But thankfully, this story has a happy ending.
After the Big Ten Network showed the exchange on national television and many began chastising the older fan for his improper etiquette online, Ohio State helped make the young fan’s day.
The fan was gifted a ball of his own complete with signatures from the team.

Shortly after that, Ohio State became the lowest seed to ever win the Big Ten tournament with their 3-1 win over Nebraska.

A word to the wise: In the future, don’t be THAT person at the ballpark.
