After four years of starring in Yellowstone together, Luke Grimes is revealing what it's really like to work with co-star and legendary actor, producer and film director Kevin Costner.

The 38-year-old actor, who plays the fan-favorite Kayce Dutton on the Paramount Network cowboy drama, has had plenty of on-screen time with Kevin throughout the show's five seasons — after all, he portrays the son of Kevin's character, John Dutton. But it seems like the special bond connecting the two characters goes beyond TV. In a recent interview with the New York Post, ahead of the show's recent season 5 premiere on November 13, Luke opened up about spending time with the 67-year-old Field of Dreams and Dances with Wolves actor on set.

“[Kevin] always wants you to come hang out at his trailer down by this creek," he revealed to the outlet. "He’s got a fire pit, and he’s a musician, so he’s always got a guitar around and won’t hesitate to play you a song. He does a really good job of taking the pressure off what a huge icon he is.”

In fact, Luke revealed that he even introduced his on-screen dad — along with the show's creator, Taylor Sheridan — to his own real-life dad, Randy, whom he took to visit the Yellowstone set. What's more, his mom Angie also joined.

"I took [my dad] to the set a couple of times, him and my mom, and they got to meet Kevin and Taylor," Luke told the publication. "It was really special to do something he was so proud of. I’m so glad he got to see me realize a dream in that way.”

Of course, Luke has had plenty of good things to say about working with Kevin in the past, too. In an interview with Monsters and Critics back in 2020, the actor spoke about the invaluable learning experience he's had from co-starring in Yellowstone with Kevin, whom he acknowledged as having "done everything you can do in a film career."

"Working with someone who is that iconic and whose career is that legendary is always sort of a pinch-me moment, like, 'Is this real?'" he said to the site. "It feels like a benchmark in your own career, and you try to soak in as much knowledge as you can."

Luke then went on to praise Kevin's "passion for the work," which he said was one thing he truly enjoyed seeing in the seasoned actor.

"It’s still very much there. He still wants to work and is still very curious and still wants to dissect the scenes and get everything out of the scene that he possibly can," he continued saying to the outlet. "You never know if someone of that stature if they are still going to love the work the way that they did when they first started, and he really seems to."

Needless to say, Yellowstone fans have undoubtedly loved how Luke's and Kevin's real-life connection translates to their complex father-son relationship on the small screen throughout the show's past five seasons — and we're certain that this new, latest season will be no exception.
