Wynonna Judd cancels KC show after mother’s death: ‘I appreciate your understanding’

Country singer Wynonna Judd has canceled her solo concert scheduled for May 18 at Knuckleheads because of the death of her mother, Naomi Judd.

“Thank you for allowing me the time to process and to heal, and we hope to return to Kansas City in the future,” she said in a release. “I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.”

Naomi Judd died by suicide on April 30 at the age of 76. The mother daughter duo had performed together for years as The Judds and recently announced their first tour together in more than a decade. Wynonna said at a memorial event for her mother Sunday in Nashville that she would proceed with that 10-city tour.

The tour, with guest Martina McBride, is scheduled to start Sept. 30 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The closest stops to Kansas City are Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Oct. 7 and Durant, Oklahoma, on Oct. 21.
