Working for Prince Andrew is the worst job in the palace, says royal expert

Episode nine of ‘The Royal Box‘ is available to stream here.

The Duke of York proudly walked his youngest daughter Princess Eugenie down the aisle at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank last Friday.

The ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor attracted media coverage all over the world, just like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in May.

However, there has been criticism surrounding the estimated £2 million cost to the taxpayer for the security bill, as well as reports that Prince Andrew wanted his daughter’s wedding to rival her cousin’s.

Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe speaks about the negativity surrounding the Duke of York and him being dubbed ‘Air Miles Andy’ for his extravagant use of the royal flight.

He told Yahoo UK’s The Royal Box,’ :“One of his old press secretaries once said to me that being the press officer for Prince Andrew is the worst job in the royal household, and that’s because he doesn’t listen.

“He will quite happily go to Switzerland to pick up an environmental award in a private jet.

“He’ll take the royal flight and run up a bill of over £100,000, in a royal helicopter, to play golf at St Andrews, it’s not rocket science.”

PR consultant Nick Ede thinks that Prince Andrew has to be careful about his messaging.

Ede says: “I think this wedding, hopefully from a PR point of view, will be really positive for the whole family.

“And the one thing about him is that we know he loves his kids, and he puts them number one first.”
