After purchasing a lottery ticket from a Safeway gas station in Colorado, a woman made a phone call to her sister.
“You’d better sit down for this,” the winner, referred to as the “Crazy Cat Lady,” told her sister, according to the Colorado Lottery.
She had won $12.5 million — half of the $25 million jackpot.
The winning ticket, which she bought on Jan. 19, came from a Safeway Fuel Station.
She plans to pay off her mortgage and bills with the first two payments from her big win. After choosing the annuity option, she will get 25 graduated annual payments.
The lotto winner also said she’s an “avid knitter and weaver,” so she plans to spend some of her prize money on attending knitting and yarn festivals.
A traveler visiting Fort Collins from the United Kingdom won the other $12.5 million.
Monument is about 50 miles south of Denver.
