A lottery ticket worth $42,000 was sold in North Fort Myers, Florida, but no one has come forward to claim it – and time is running out
The Fantasy 5 ticket won the top prize in a midday drawing on March 20, Florida lottery officials said in a news release Sept. 13. It was purchased at a Winn-Dixie in a town that’s part of a major tourism corridor on the west coast of Florida.
Winners have 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize. That means the ticket holder has until Saturday, Sept. 16 at midnight to get their winnings, according to the release.
As of the afternoon of Sept. 14, no one has come forward with the ticket, a Florida Lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News.
The winning numbers in the drawing were 05 - 06 - 19 - 23 - 28.
“While any Florida Lottery retailer can validate the winning ticket, the FANTASY 5 top prize must be claimed at a Florida Lottery District Office,” officials shared in the release.
Fantasy 5 players can win the top prize by matching five out of five winning numbers drawn in any order, according to the Florida Lottery site.
“Additionally, players win cash prizes or a free Quick Pick ticket by matching two, three, or four of the numbers drawn in the official drawing for the date played,” officials said.
The winning ticket from March 20 appears to be a free Quick Pick, according to a record of drawings.
If you’ve played the lottery at a Winn-Dixie in North Fort Myers, officials have a message: check your ticket.
