Wimbledon 2022 LIVE: Nick Kyrgios rages but knocks out Stefanos Tsitsipas as Rafael Nadal wins

Rafael Nadal and the match between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas highlight the late action on Day 6 at Wimbledon after an afternoon of upsets at SW19.

World No 1 Iga Swiatek is out after Alize Cornet snapped her 37-match win streak with a 6-4 6-2 victory. It came after Coco Gauff was eliminated by Amanda Anisimova, who clinched a 6-7 6-2 6-1 win over her fellow American.

Earlier, Katie Boulter faced Harmony Tan in the opening match of the day on Court No 2 and was thrashed 6-1 6-1 in just 51 minutes. Tan, who shocked Serena Williams with a memorable win in the opening round, blitzed the Brit as she surged to victory.

Liam Broady is also out after a straight sets defeat to the impressive Alex De Minaur - Boulter’s boyfriend - who saw off a late fight from the 28-year-old British wildcard to take a 6-4 6-4 7-6 win.

Elsewhere, Kyrgios faces Tsitsipas in a blockbuster clash last up on Court No 1. Kyrgios produced a faultless performance to destroy Filip Krajinovic in the second round and a shock could be on the cards if the fiery Australian can get in the zone once again.

“Honestly it was a hell of an atmosphere. I knew it was going to be a tough match, he knows how to beat me, I had my own tactics.

“He was getting frustrated at times, it’s a frustrating sport. I have ultimate respect for him whatever happens on the court.

Kyrgios’ return is called out and he challenges it once more - this one is clearly out though. 6-6.

Tsitsipas needs to hold his nerve and this next serve...and he does, a powerful central hit which cannot be returned.

Kyrgios’ turn to overcome disappointment and two controlled volleys at the net are absolutely brilliant to make it 7-7.

More great tennis between the two in the next rally and again it’s the Australian who prevails. 8-7, match point.

His first is wide but challenged and the review shows it’s in - first service again. He’s unhappy.

The replayed serve is good but Tsitsipas finds a way to return it and sends his second shot in to take the point. Kyrgios takes the second and it’s 6-5, match point for the Australian but it’s back to Tsitsipas to serve.

Tsitsipas serves an ace to begin, but a big serve comes right back at him before Kyrgios does this time win a longer rally, for 2-1.

Next the Greek wins his first serve, calls a review for the second...and it’s in by a tiny margin! 2-3 he’s up.

Routine big serve from Kyrgios to level it, then after a change of ends, he powers one into the corner for 4-3.

Tsitsipas just about gives Kyrgios too much to do with a volley - but then inexplicably sends a forehand long and it’s 5-4!

New balls again. We start with one of the longest rallies we’ve had in the match so far and Kyrgios blinks first, directing one out of play. Tsitsipas then ups the ante and he looks like he has the better energy levels right now, but Kyrgios still has that serve.

He hits an ace for 15-30, then forces his opponent wide and it’s into the net on the next shot for 30-30.

Great placement to go with the power puts Kyrgios in front and it’s a mirror image at the other end of the court for deuce - another fantastic game here. The Australian just will not relent and he wraps up another service game.

Tsitsipas quickly goes two points up, including another attempted drop shot from Kyrgios which didn’t have the desired effect, but the unseeded Australian roars back to 30-30 - before sending a routine backhand long. Set point it is...and his composure is brilliant. He sends Tsitsipas the wrong way and it’s deuce.

The rest is exactly as you’d expect and we’re 5-5.

Next it’s another of those unstoppable serves, and then another. Deuce. Great response and he doesn’t stop there, powering through to take the game. Sensational.

He’s got it! 4-4 and Sonego laps up the celebrations.

Tsitsipas’ first service is good despite a frankly outrageous challenge call by Kyrgios, then the next point is a rally which ends in a volley at the net to make it deuce.

Add in an ace for advantage and another long return, and Tsitsipas has yet again pulled himself back from the brink.

Looks like no lasting damage done as Kyrgios hits in some big serves and chases one return to go 30-15 up.

A wide forehand from Tsitsipas is followed up by a volley smashed into the ground and over Kyrgios, keeping the game close, but the big serves keep coming and it’s one apiece.

Fourth set then, here we go.

The fourth seed is immediately in trouble as one backhand flies out and then a crushing shot from Kyrgios leads to an unforced error and three break points.

Once again the Greek’s resilience is on show to pull back two, then a longer rally ends with Kyrgios firing into the net.

Then - disaster seems to strike. Kyrgios stretches to reach a backhander and as he tries to change direction, his foot slips out from under him and the hip really opens up. He’s down for a moment but is OK to continue for now. Tsitsipas finishes the game to complete the turnaround.

He hurries back and spins to land a backhand smash that bounces off Sonego’s racket, which was more out of protection than any attempt at a return.

He takes a bow this time, playing to the crowd, then finishes it with a great volley to go 2-1 up!

He reacts well in the game though with some powerful shots across court, walloping one volley right at Kyrgios and only just past him to go 40-30. He wraps it up cleanly with the next serve.

With nothing left to lose, Sonego is putting real venom on these strokes, but that’s mistimed and balloons so high it would have touched the roof had it been on. Loud cheers for a smart catch in the crowd that would have been appreciated at Edgbaston.

But that’s 1-0 to Nadal and another early break.

Another call challenged by Kyrgios and this time he’s right - Tsitsipas’ serve was out. The second serve is in and Kyrgios fires it long in return for 30-30.

The next one is long though from the server and it’s break point...Tsitsipas rattles a fantastic forehand right across Kyrgios into the far corner in response, tremendous shot.

It’s another break point after deuce though and this time Kyrgios finishes the job, wrongfooting Tsitsipas and giving himself a great chance to go clear.

Ok a replay has clarified matters - Tsitsipas hit a ball in frustration and it cleared the barrier and went into the crowd, but it doesn’t appear to have hit anybody.

Kyrgios is raging but he’s serving to start the third set.

Another hole dug out of, but this is proving a really tough challenge with Nadal in this form.

Not sure what the issue is this time but Kygrios has called the umpire a “disgrace” and the referee has been called over.

He says he’s not playing until they get to the bottom it - “it” seems to that a ball was hit into the crowd and he expected it to be a default.

Tsitsipas then, serving to stay in the set. He holds his focus well, then Kyrgios is spoken to after another complaint.

He responds the way he does best, by forcing two errors and winning consecutive points to go 30-30 in the game, but the next serve is an unstoppable ace.

But it’s far from over: Kyrgios fires in two good returns to take advantage, then with a fantastic lob and volley combo he breaks Tsitsipas and wins the set!

And another fierce serve that’s proving tricky to tame, game and a 4-0 lead.

A little fortune and a lot of power - Kyrgios goes 40-0 up in seconds before sending a drop shot into the net. Too cute this time.

Then it’s another unforced error, from the baseline into the net, before the Australian sends a wild forehand well out of play to allow Tsitsipas to pull it back to deuce.

Incredibly he plays the exact same drop shot and it’s into the net again, meaning break point, but an unbelievable second serve removes the immediate danger.

Somehow he then pulls out two more brilliant shots and from what looked an easy game, to almost losing his serve, Kyrgios has then waltzed to another lead. Such a crazy player, such an entertaining one.

Rafa digs a backhand back that stays low, Sonego with another mistake, it’s 0-30 and he’s staring down a second break.

Some real support for Sonego as he works his way back to 30-30. “Forza Lorenzo” rings around Centre.

A nice rally develops but again, Sonego living on the edge and is forced to go for one, stretching a little too much and Nadal has a break point.

Now a forehand cross court sprayed wide, BREAK. Nadal racing away with the second set here.

Tsitsipas challenges a call with a serve given out...it was indeed out. The second serve goes to a fast rally and an attempted lob is just within reach, but the Greek can’t control his shot and it’s out for 15-30.

An ace rectifies that, but then another unforced error gifts Kyrgios a break point.

Big serves to the rescue again though, as two in succession cannot be returned, before Kygrios places a lovely backhander into the corner to go back to deuce. He can’t see it out though and serve is held again.

Nadal feeling it and goes for the backhand pass down the line, but it’s wayward. 15-15.

And a backhand volley at the net is long, a glimour of hope for Sonego!

Routine in the end, with Sonego taking risks to hit winners. Nadal with a beautifully controlled backhand volley that slices away from the Italian, his next shot is long and it’s game, the break confirmed.

A tweener after a lovely Nadal lob is then easily dispatched by Rafa, and then again at the net, the Spaniard relishing his forrays when the Italian is stretched beyond the baseline.

That’s wild from Sonego, stretching and dumped well long. Two break points coming up.

One saved, but then a moment of brilliance from Rafa: a whipped forehand cross court passes a rushing Sonego at the net. BREAK!

Tsitsipas puts himself in a good position with a fiery finish down the middle past Kygrios who is at the net to go 15-30 up, but the next point sees the Australian roar back and rip one past his opponent to level it.

Another big second serve is too hot to handle, Kyrgios ahead, and he finishes it by sending Tsitsipas too wide to return the next.

A big rally ends with Kyrgios sending an impressive return to the line and Tsitsipas can’t keep his return in play, but he sends his opponent scurrying on the next point and it’s into the net. All square.

A longer rally at the start of the set’s third game ends in Kyrgios sending an unforced error into the net, but he reacts in strong fashion to again hold his service.

He received a warning there between sets too.

Tsitsipas hits one central which Kyrgios cannot react to after the bounce, with the Australian’s serve then proving too hot to handle in the first instance - before a double fault shows the first chink in his armour.

Kyrgios chases the point and is left frustrated next time out, but Tsitsipas then goes long to give up his advantage - but not for long as he finally finds a perfect return of serve to go 4-2 up.

More antics from Kygrios don’t tilt Tsitsipas’ focus and a beauty of a shot makes it five, with two serves to take the set. He gets one, not the other, but after a challenge it’s overturned and that’s the set!

Then it’s much more orthodox, if brilliant, to hit a passing shot across court for advantage - but eventually Tsitsipas prevails and holds serve.

Iga Swiatek is out of Wimbledon and in truth it had been coming. The World No 1’s dominant streak at the top of the game comes to an end at 37 matches, as Alize Cornet seized the opportunity and exploited Swiatek’s hesitancy on the grass courts of SW19. Swiatek’s arrival at the All England Club came with the warning that she had yet to settle onto the surface and the 21-year-old had been a different player this week to the one who had conquered all before her on the clay at the French Open last month.

For Cornet, the 6-4 6-2 victory sealed another upset over a World No 1 at Wimbledon, eight years on from stunning Serena Williams in a match that also took place on Court No 1. Cornet was a problematic opponent for Swiatek from the start and revealed that she had taken confidence from the Pole’s struggles in the early matches against Jana Fett and Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove. “I knew I could do it,” Cornet admitted. “If there was ever a moment to beat her, it was now on grass.”

World No 1 Iga Swiatek is out of Wimbledon after a straight sets defeat to Alize Cornet in the third round.

The defeat is Swiatek’s first in 38 matches, a run that stretches back to February, and comes after an error-strewn performance on Court No 1.

Cornet, ranked 37 in the world, broke Swiatek twice to race into an early to lead in the opening set and did not look back.

Although the 21-year-old Swiatek responded by breaking Corner early in the second set, the Frenchwoman stormed back to win 6-4 6-2 and advance to the fourth round.

Then a big rally ends in a moment of magic from Cornet as she returns a drop shot volley just over the net to make it deuce - and she keeps her composure to deliver a fine finish and immediately break back.

Iga Swiatek was not to be denied though and a powerful series of shots finally gets her over the line - over eight minutes for that superb first game of the second set!

Coco Gauff knocked out of Wimbledon as Amanda Anisimova seals three-set comeback

Coco Gauff suffered a third-round exit at Wimbledon after she went down 6-7 (4) 6-2 6-1 on Centre Court to fellow American Amanda Anisimova.

French Open runner-up Gauff was able to win a hard-fought opener on a tie-break but could not keep up with the level of the 20th seed after.

Anisimova, who won the 2017 US Open junior final between the duo, clinched victory with a backhand winner to make the last 16 at the All England Club for the first time.

Alex De Minaur sees off spirited Liam Broady to reach Wimbledon fourth round

After reaching new ground at Wimbledon, Liam Broady could not find a way past Alex De Minaur but with that there is no disgrace, writes Jamie Braidwood.

There are few players harder to put away than the Australian and in rattling off a 6-3 6-4 7-5 win on Court No 1, De Minaur produced a series of stunning chase downs and recoveries to leave the British wildcard with no answers.

Backed by a deceptively powerful and overwhelmingly efficient serve, De Minaur put away a spirited late rally from Broady to get over the line in two hours and 24 minutes.

It remains a landmark week for Broady, whose five-set victory over Diego Schwartzman secured his passage to the third round of a grand slam for the first time in his career. The 28-year-old was unable to join Cameron Norrie and Heather Watson in progressing to the last 16 and although he showed plenty of fight he faced an unbreachable wall on the other side of the court in De Minaur.

A brilliant effort by Amanda Anisimova as she knocks French Open finalist Coco Gauff out of Wimbledon! She lost the first set on a tiebreak but pulled away in the second set and then was clinical in the third.

Gauff’s Wimbledon journey comes to an end for 2022.

Anisimova faces Harmony Tan - who so impressively beat Katie Boulter earlier - in the next round.

Alex de Minaur reflects on win over Liam Broady

Alex De Minaur gave his immediate thoughts on victory over Liam Broady in his court-side interview. He reaches the second week of Wimbledon for the first time and will face Jason Kubler next.

“I’m just relieved,” he said. “It was definitely harder out there than I wanted it to be. But at the end of the day, this is tennis. Playing in front of an amazing crowd, it was never going to be easy. More than anything I’m just relieved to be in the second week of Wimbledon.

“It’s incredibly special. Wimbledon is such a special tournament, so to be able to play here is a true honour. I’m enjoying every second I can on the grass and trying to ride this wave.

“I appreciate all the support. I really cherish every moment I can get on this court, and if I can get you guys’ [the crowd] support it means the world. I appreciate it. I’m just going to try to keep on doing me, stay pumped and stay excited.”

Wow! What a final game that was. Absolutely remarkable but De Minaur just about did enough.

SAVED! Heart in the mouth slightly for De Minaur but he nails the overhead to take it to deuce.

Hit into the net from mid-court - another Broady break point... SAVED again! A great rally ended with a topspin forehand that lands a couple of inches into the court.

Not the time for a double fault... Third break point! SAVED! Some slightly dicey lobs and drop shots but he eventually puts a backhand away.

Now a fourth break point! Can he finally take one? Nope. SAVED! Volley put away nicely by De Minaur. And now he has MATCH POINT as a big serve doesn’t come back. SAVED! This time Broady on the brink but pulls out a winner.

Big serve again, second match point. Almost 10 minutes for this game alone... De Minaur floats one long. This is incredible. Another deuce!

A third chance at match point. OH MY! What a return from Broady and he converts a forehand at the net for a third save. He’ll have to do a fourth though and this time he can’t! DE MINAUR HAS DONE IT!
