'That Is Wild': Carnival Cruise Ship Catches Fire While Docked in Grand Turk

A cruise ship’s funnel caught on fire while docked in Grand Turk Island, Turks and Caicos, on May 26.

Video recorded by Jeremy Faulkner Jr, who was on an adjacent cruise ship, shows a fire burning off the side of the Carnival Freedom ship’s funnel. The fire blazes, producing a thick cloud of smoke as people watch on from the neighboring deck.

“We were eating on the Carnival Mardi Gras and saw smoke coming from outside the windows,” Faulkner told Storyful about how he was alerted of the fire next door.

The Carnival Cruise Line released a statement about the incident, which stated that “all guests and crew are safe, and the ship’s guests were cleared by local authorities to go ashore.” Credit: Jeremy Faulkner Jr via Storyful
