Wicked Little Letters is now available to watch on Netflix

Wicked Little Letters has become available to watch on Netflix.

Based on a real-life scandal, the comedy follows the dispute between neighbours Edith (Olivia Colman) and Rose (Jessie Buckley) after Edith receives a series of anonymous foul-mouthed letters, which she believes are from Rose.

A few months after its cinema release, Netflix has now released the movie for subscribers in the UK and Ireland.

Wicked Little Letters received largely positive reviews upon its release, currently sitting at 80% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie comes from director Thea Sharrock, and boasts an impressive wider cast too including Timothy Spall, Anjana Vasan, Joanna Scanlan, Hugh Skinner, Gemma Jones, Malachi Kirby, Lolly Adefope and Eileen Atkins.

Colman spoke to Digital Spy earlier this year about making the movie, admitting that she found the swearing "cathartic".

"You are told from quite a young age that it's naughty, but it's not hurting anyone, unless you are directing it at someone," she said. "Actually, the whole point of this is it is hurting people, isn't it?"

The star continued: "It is a release. If you were to stand on top of a hill and shout whatever you want to shout, you feel so much lighter. If you've ever punched a punchbag, you feel great afterwards. It's cathartic.

"I think they're useful words that can express how you feel in a way that other words can't. Succinctly, and quickly. I love swearing."

Buckley added: "Yeah, everyone should have a good swear."

Colman also admitted that she "almost never" swears in anger in real life.

Wicked Little Letters is available to stream now on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
