While many Ozark fans are over the moon that the fourth and final season is finally here, others have a bone to pick with Netflix: Why has it been split into two parts?!

The new season was released on Friday [21 January 2022], and viewers joined Marty and Wendy Byrde as they continued their pursuit of freedom from drug kingpin, Omar Navarro.

Much of the response on social media has been positive, with fans happy to see the likes of Ruth (played by Julia Garner) back on their screens. But others have been less than impressed, as the 14-part series has actually been split into two - and the final seven episodes aren't available yet. AGH.

"WHERE IS THE SECOND HALF OF SEASON 4 #ozark #OzarkNetflix," one person wrote, while another put, "I need part two of Ozark to hurry up."

Someone else said, "Ozark is the one. We need part two immediately" and "Netflix making us wait for Part Two of the final season of #Ozark is criminal!"

The worst part is Netflix have not yet announced the release date for the second instalment. Speaking to The Wrap recently, showrunner Chris Mundy explained why he felt season four needed to be a two-parter.

"We always thought five [seasons] was the outside number," Mundy said, speaking of the decision of how to bring the show to a close. "It just felt like after that – we didn’t want to repeat ourselves. We didn’t want the show to feel like it was continuing because it was a TV show and it had to continue.

"So really the decision has always been between 'is it four [seasons] or is it five', and then Netflix hit upon the idea of saying, 'We’ll do four but we’ll make it long and split it in this way,' and that felt perfect."
