Here’s where UC Davis Health made a $19.5 million land purchase to expand outpatient services

UC Davis Health announced Thursday that it plans to expand in Elk Grove, acquiring 20 acres at Elk Grove Boulevard and Laguna Springs Drive for just under $19.5 million.

“As the only academic medical center in the region, we are making our nationally ranked patient care more convenient by bringing our experts directly into local neighborhoods,” said UC Davis Health Chief Executive Officer David Lubarsky. “Everything we do is about bringing a better and more convenient level of care to the people we serve.”

The move is part of a strategic plan to develop a regional system of care, according to a news release from UCDH, and the land will allow the health system to expand its current Elk Grove clinics, now operating at 8110 Laguna Blvd. and 9390 Big Horn Blvd, with additional primary care and comprehensive specialty care services.

UCDH also noted that a wallethub.com survey found Elk Grove has one of the country’s fastest-growing economies in the Sacramento area, increasing by 15% from 2010 to 2020. The city of Elk Grove has projected that its population will grow to 200,000 by 2029.

“UC Davis Health is anticipating the future needs of our community,” said Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, in the news release. “Their regional plan will expand local outpatient services and support the health and vitality of our residents and the economy as we continue to grow. We appreciate their investment in Elk Grove’s future.”

UC Davis Health is undergoing significant growth at its Sacramento-based medical center as well as in Folsom and Rocklin.
