Westlife fans stunned as boyband makes comeback on Strictly

Westlife fans were thrilled as the Irish pop band make a grand return on Strictly Come Dancing.

Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Markus Feehily performed their new single Starlight on the Sunday night results show.

They were met with cheers from the Strictly audience as fans commented that they have not aged in 20 years.

The singers lit up the ballroom, each stood on their own luminated platforms, as professional dancers Gorka and Luba performed dressed as a human disco ball.

Following their comeback appearance, Byrne joked on Twitter: “We just played giant Subbuteo on Strictly! It was epic.”

Westlife reunited in 2018 following an eight year music hiatus, with the final concert of their farewell tour taking place at Croke Park in Dublin in June 2012.

Their latest album Wild Dreams is due to launch on November 26.

Westlife performed in week 4 of Strictly which saw Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies top the leaderboard and actor Greg Wise say goodbye, following his Macarena Samba.

Fans swooned over the boyband which has scored 14 UK number one hits including Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up and Uptown Girl.

A common reaction remarked how the singers appear not to have aged a single day since they formed in 1998.

One fan tweeted: “Not one member of Westlife has aged a day in the past 20 years.”

Another said: “How is it that Westlife boys haven’t aged at all?”

While a third joked: “Westlife don’t appear to have aged. Or, maybe, I have aged and that’s why they appear not to have.”

Viewers told how they enjoyed to see the pop sensation back on television screens.

One said: “It was absolutely amazing, so lovely to see you guys again. You all rocked.”

Another commented: “That was brilliant they were all amazing but @MarkusFeehily voice was massive.”

Another added: “They are my happy place.”

Westlife was originally signed in the UK by Simon Cowell and has released eleven studio albums.
