'Weird in a good way': Drew Barrymore, ex-husband Tom Green reunite after almost 20 years

Drew Barrymore reunited with ex-husband Tom Green for the first time in nearly two decades on the set of her eponymous talk show Tuesday.

Green joined his ex-wife and television personality Ross Mathews for the “Drew’s News” segment of Barrymore’s show, during which Green spoke about his yearlong road trip. The two also reminisced about their honeymoon in Ireland, which included mountain hikes, a hairy sheep, a “mini cemetery” of headstones and jumping in “random oceans” and finding “random fields.”

“It was one of my favorite trips of my life,” Barrymore said.

Barrymore married Green in July 2001, after having started a romance with the actor-comedian on the set of 2000's "Charlie's Angels."

"That was so exciting getting to do that movie with you," Green told Barrymore last year, during a remote appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show." "And you know, we kind of sort of hit it off right away pretty much. We had a lot of laughs together."

At the time, Green fondly recalled one of their first dates."We went and bought lobsters because we both love animals … and we released them into the ocean. That was what we decided to do."

The two eventually split after Green filed for divorce six months later in 2002.

"I really love you and I celebrate you," Barrymore told Green last year. “You’ve had a whole life and I’ve had a whole life. It’s just really nice to come together and check in and talk about it.

“It just thrills me to no end. I celebrate you, and I always have and I always will."

Ross Matthews said Tuesday that seeing the ex-spouses together felt "so surreal," but Green said reuniting on Barrymore’s show was "a nice way of reconnecting."

"It takes a little bit of the pressure off," Green said, before adding that it, too, felt a "a little bit like an out-of-body experience."

"It's very nice to see you (Barrymore). It does feel weird though," he continued. "Not weird in a bad way: weird in a good way."

Matthews also asked Green: "Would you ever go to an ex's wedding." Green replied: "I've never been invited to an ex's wedding," before giving Barrymore a playful look.

Following her marriage to Green, Barrymore married actor Will Kopelman in June 2012. The couple separated in August 2016. They share two daughters: Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7.

Green then played off the awkward moment and told Mattews that it "made sense to probably not go to an ex's wedding." Barrymore agreed: "I think so, too."
