From 'Gogglebox' to 'Saturday Night Takeaway': The 12 TV shows to watch this weekend

From the latest star-studded contests to comedy offerings and trips down memory lane – there are plenty of great options when it comes to deciding what to watch this weekend.

Friday, 5 March

WandaVision finale (Disney+)

In the interest of keeping spoilers to an absolute minimum, we’ll keep this brief: The ninth and final episode of Disney’s genre-bending superhero series has finally arrived.

We’re saying nothing about the finale itself but don’t forget that while WandaVision is a TV series, it’s also a Marvel project – so there are, of course, post-credit scenes to stick around for.

Grayson’s Art Club (8pm, Channel 4)

After providing a much-needed distraction during Lockdown 1.0 last year, Grayson and Philippa Perry are back for more.

Tonight’s theme is nature and the episode will feature land artist Andy Goldsworthy and Polly Morgan, who uses taxidermy to create stunning pieces. Russell Tovey will also be tapping into his artistic side.

Gogglebox (9pm, Channel 4)

Now in its sixteenth series, Gogglebox is a much-loved Friday night staple. Tonight’s episode will feature all of your favourite families – from the Saddiquis to Jenny and Lee – dissecting the television moments of the week.

The Graham Norton Show (10.45pm, BBC One)

Graham Norton’s socially-distanced set will once again be welcoming an eclectic range of celebrities, some of whom will be Zoom-ing in from home.

Tonight’s installment will see Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar dish the dirt on the sixth series of Line Of Duty and Daisy Ridley is stopping by to chat about her new sci-fi adventure movie, Chaos Walking.

Bryan Cranston and Chiwetel Ejiofor will also appear on the programme, as will Imelda May, who is performing her new single 'Made To Love'.

Saturday, 6 March

Saturday Kitchen Live (10am, BBC One)

Matt Tebbutt and guest chefs Gennaro Contaldo and Anna Jones will be serving up inspiring dishes that will leave you desperate to cook something a bit special for lunch.

This week’s celebrity guest is Stacey Solomon and the final dish will either be the Loose Women star’s food heaven, roasted lamb shank, or food hell, calves’ liver with black pudding.

The choice, as always, is up to viewers. Votes will open when the programme begins at 10am.

The Wall (6.45pm, BBC One)

Thanks to his catchphrases and mighty bellows at the giant arcade machine before him, Danny Dyer’s gameshow often feels more than a little ridiculous – but there’s nothing laughable about the huge amount of money at stake.

The Wall’s prize fund fluctuates from zero to six figures and no matter how silly it seems as Dyer instructs each contestant to “get your balls, darling”, the life-changing sums on the table ensure each episode makes for compelling viewing.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (7pm, ITV)

It’s good to have them back isn’t it?

The second episode of this all-new Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway series will see Rob Delaney feature as the Star Guest Announcer while Davina McCall bravely takes on the Get Out Of Me Ear challenge. Tom Jones will perform live in the studio.

Vicar of Dibley: Inside Out (9pm, Gold HD)

In this brand new special, the cast and crew behind Vicar Of Dibley take a delightful trip down memory lane, revealing plenty of behind-the-scenes secrets along the way.

Dawn French will of course feature, alongside the series’ co-writers Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer, producer Jon Plowman and actor James Fleet (who played Hugo Horton).

A number of the show’s memorable guest stars – including Kylie Minogue and Joanna Lumley – will also offer their takes on what made the classic comedy so great.

Sunday, 7 March

Sunday Brunch (11.45am, Channel 4)

The weekend breakfast show has been bumped to a slightly later slot this week, as Channel 4 will continue airing the England vs India test match.

Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy will be joined by an impressive roster of celebrity guests, with Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, Gavin And Stacey legend Alison Steadman and presenter Laura Whitmore all appearing via videolink or in the studio.

The roll call doesn’t end there either, as Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson, My Mad Fat Diary’s Sharon Rooney and Alexandra Burke will also feature.

Dancing On Ice semi-final (6pm, ITV)

The Dancing On Ice semi-final is taking place a week earlier than initially planned.

After being blighted by injuries and positive Covid-19 tests, the current series has been cut short so this Sunday’s episode is now the penultimate instalment.

Just four celebrities – Colin Jackson, Lady Leshurr, Faye Brookes and Sonny Jay – remain the competition but only three of them can advance to the final stage.

A New Life In The Sun: Road Trip (7pm, Channel 4)

Fred Siriex’s journey around Europe continues and this week he’s stopping off in the Bordeaux and Bergerac wine regions.

The First Dates maitre d’ will be meeting two sets of Brits who have made the stunning French countryside home. But be warned: Tuning in will leave you desperate to relocate.

Funny Festival Live (9.45pm, BBC Two)

Stand-up comedy has been sorely missed during the latest lockdown. BBC Two’s Festival of Funny will give a group of up-and-coming stars the much-needed chance to flex their performing muscles on stage and the first of five episodes (which will air on consecutive nights) will be broadcast on Sunday.

The new talent will be introduced by established comics, such as Sara Pascoe, Jo Brand and Jason Manford.
