Your Sacramento weekend guide: Look up the sky, listen by the river and delve into the past

As a new resident of Sacramento, the weekend has become an opportunity for me to explore this vibrant city and its communities. From statewide events to smaller community-focused get-togethers, I have quickly realized that the capital region doesn’t fall short of things to do.

As we shift to the start of October, you’ll find Halloween-inspired events such as a spooky matinee movie at the Guild Theatre. Or for the history buffs, head to the Center for Sacramento History for an educational evening on the city’s agricultural roots.

Here’s a guide, for newcomers and longtime residents alike. If you have suggestions for weekend activities you think a newcomer would enjoy, share it with me via email at jpinedo@sacbee.com.
