Is a week at sea too short? Try a month on this Oceania Cruises sailing

Start blocking off those vacation days: Oceania Cruises is offering a new Grand Voyage in 2023, giving travelers the chance to spend more than a month sailing the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean Connection cruise will sail from Venice, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain, stopping at 28 ports over 33 days, allowing guests to dig deeper into the culture and history of the region.

"With demand continuing to increase for longer and more destination-immersive voyages, we are thrilled to reveal this new itinerary offering experiences in both iconic and off-the-beaten-path ports of call in a corner of the world with rich history and cultural wonders," Howard Sherman, Oceania's president and CEO, said in a news release.

Where will Oceania's new Grand Voyage visit?

The cruise will take place from Oct. 11 through Nov. 13 and stop at a mix of popular and lesser-visited ports, including Split, Croatia; Santorini, Greece; Catania, Sicily; as well as Alexandria, Egypt, and La Goulette, Tunisia.

What can guests expect?

The sailing will take place on the line's Marina ship, which is over 784 feet long and can accommodate more than 1,200 passengers at double occupancy, according to Oceania's website.

Guests can explore the Roman countryside, take in the Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens and peruse the seaside streets of Mykonos. The ship will also stay overnight in Istanbul, Turkey, where passengers can visit sites like the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace.

Accommodations range from 174-square-foot interior cabins to the spacious Owner's Suite, at 2,000 square feet. The ship also has a saltwater pool, spa and casino, among other amenities, according to the line's website.

Available cabins start at $9,699 based on double occupancy for a Veranda Stateroom, including most food, free soft drinks and bottled water and Wi-Fi. Marina also has wheelchair-accessible staterooms.

What else do guests need to know?

For those who prefer a shorter trip, Oceania is also welcoming guests for portions of the voyage. There are three abbreviated itineraries ranging from 10 to 12 days, including one from Venice to Rome and another from Istanbul to Barcelona, according to the news release.
