That lovely lot at Netflix have really been treating us as of late, dropping *so* much good stuff on the streamer. The latest: new series Wednesday, of course, which arrived last week (23 November).

Starring You's Jenna Ortega, the show hones in on iconic The Addams Family character Wednesday Addams - now a teenager and enrolling at spooky school Nevermore Academy.

Fans have so far been *very* obsessed with Wednesday, as expected, and we've already got our sights set on a season two. However, there is one aspect of the new series which viewers aren't convinced by, with many sharing the same complaint over the plot line.

To recap, Netflix's official Wednesday synopsis reads: "Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."

One of those tangled relationships? Wednesday's blossoming friendship with fellow Nevermore student Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White). We see Xavier and Wednesday getting to know one another early on in the season, when Xavier reveals that the pair had actually first met as children. *Spoilers ahead*.

However, Wednesday becomes suspicious of Xavier once she starts to believe that he is the monster wreaking havoc in local town Jericho. Wednesday later discovers that Xavier is actually innocent, and she even ends up taking an arrow in the shoulder to protect him. By the end, Xavier gifts Wednesday an iPhone with his number saved in it, though we don't find out if anything more happens between the pair.

Still, viewers are sadly not buying a romance between Wednesday and Xavier, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Referencing Wednesday's other almost-romance with local barista Tyler, one fan wrote, "like the attraction [between] Xavier and Tyler and Wednesday feels so forced anyway??? Annoyed the s**t out of me like just let her be herself around people."

Another added, "I'm not feeling Xavier as a romantic partner for Wednesday bc he annoyed me [and] it doesn't seem like she even sees him that way. But IDK I also think her not having a [boyfriend] at all makes perfect sense too."

A third chimed in, "I’m no longer rooting for Tyler but that doesn’t mean I’m rooting for Xavier. I still don’t like him. Wednesday doesn’t need a man and that’s why I love her!" Hard agree TBH.

Wednesday is streaming now on Netflix.
