Wayward Alligator Wrangled by Georgia Cop

An alligator in Kingsland, Georgia, was released into the St Marys River by a brave local police officer after being found outside a resident’s house on June 29, Kingsland Police Department said.

Footage posted to the Kingsland Police Department’s Facebook page shows Officer Thornton holding the alligator’s mouth shut with his bare hands and sending it back to where it belongs.

A person can be heard laughing and saying “She’s happy now” as the gator slinks into the water.

The police department said they did not know whether the gator was male or female, but that it was released into the St Marys River “to enjoy the rest of their day”.

One commenter said of Officer Thornton’s daring rescue: “Oh you know this guy lived for his Steve Irwin moment!!!” Credit: Kingsland Police Department via Storyful
