Water Rescue Dog Tows Stranded Boat on Pennsylvania Lake

A Newfoundland dog, trained in water rescue, was recently filmed as it towed a 2,800-pound stranded pontoon boat by taking the mooring rope in its mouth.

Video recorded by George Abraham and published to Instagram on September 26 shows Oakley the Newfie in action, as the canine tugs the boat along.

Abraham wrote: “The lake was getting choppy with a strong current. We swam out and Oakley took the mooring rope in mouth, turned that big pontoon into the current, and pulled it all the way to her walking depth!”

Abraham added that this was “just another day” in the life of a water dog rescue, saying that Oakley was part of the American Academy of Canine Water Rescue.
