Watch: The Stunning Trailer For The Little Prince

image

Move aside Disney Pixar because there’s a wonderful new trailer for animated movie ‘The Little Prince’.

Directed by Mark Osborne, this sweet, gorgeous-looking animation is based on the well-known story from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It’s about a small girl who is being prepared for the adult world by her mother, but is suitably distracted by her elderly neighbour, The Aviator. He introduces her to a fantastical world where anything is possible, and therein lies the catalyst for the story.

The first glimpse emerged a few months ago, but the footage was all in French. This is the first English language trailer, and features the voices of Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Mackenzie Foy, Paul Rudd, Benicio Del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Albert Brooks, Bud Cortand, and Jeff Bridges.

The style really is something very different and unique from anything we’ve seen from Disney, Pixar, or Studio Ghibli. There’s a distinct beauty with its stop motion that, if accompanied by a strong story adaptation, will prove to be a gem of a film and worthy of note.

In a year that’s proven strong for animation - with hits like ‘Big Hero 6′, ‘The Tale of Princess Kaguya’, ‘Song of the Sea’, ‘Inside Out’, and ‘The Good Dinosaur’, 2016 looks set to continue the trend.

‘The Little Prince’ doesn’t have a UK release yet but is in US cinemas from 18 March, 2016.
