Watch Sofia Vergara Tease Reese Witherspoon, a.k.a. 'My Little Pony,' at the American Cinematheque Awards

Kate Hudson stole the show at last year’s American Cinematheque Awards gala with her spot-on impression of honoree Matthew McConaughey. At this year’s event celebrating Reese Witherspoon, it was Sofia Vergara who got the most laughs. (Watch the video above.)

The Modern Family star and Witherspoon’s co-star in the summer buddy comedy Hot Pursuit, regaled the room with stories about Witherspoon at the event in Los Angeles on Friday night. Vergara teased the Oscar winner for her game attempts to speak Spanish during the Hot Pursuit press tour, called her by the nickname “My Little Pony,” and described Witherspoon as having “the best skin and the biggest butt of any white woman in Hollywood.” As Witherspoon laughed and covered her face, Vergara exclaimed, “You know it’s true. You have said it to me, too.”

The night offered a look back at the 39-year-old Witherspoon’s long career, which started with her acclaimed performance as a young teenager in the 1991 drama The Man in the Moon. The gala moved through more highlights, including Election, Legally Blonde, and 2005’s Walk the Line, for which she won her Best Actress Oscar. Other speakers included Jennifer Aniston, who reminisced about the time Witherspoon played her sister on the sitcom Friends; Jennifer Garner, who praised Witherspoon’s loyalty during tough times; and her Wild co-star Laura Dern, who brought her mother Diane Ladd on stage in what turned into a tribute to Witherspoon’s own mother. Witherspoon’s Mud costar Matthew McConaughey presented the award and recalled thinking when he first met her: “This woman is nobody’s fool, and if she wants something she makes a straight line to it.”

Witherspoon attended the event with her two older children from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe, 16-year-old Ava and 12-year-old Deacon, who both bear a striking resemblance to their mom. As Witherspoon was accepting her award, she addressed them directly towards the end of her speech: “I want to thank you for all the times that you had to say goodbye to mom while she packed to go out on location,” she said tearfully. “I love you more than you will ever know.”
