What to Watch podcast: The mystery continues on the season premiere of Only Murders in the Building

Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are on the suspect list in season 2 of the Hulu comedy Only Murders in the Building after their building board president Bunny was found dead in the season 1 finale.

On the season finale of Superman & Lois, Superman jumps into action to save his fellow Smallville citizens after discovering that the merging of planets is already happening. And Cristela Alonzo stars in a new Netflix comedy special, Middle Classy, the follow-up to her 2016 special Lower Classy.

Powerful storms with damaging high winds threatened several states in the Southeast early Friday, as residents elsewhere in the U.S. cleared debris from deadly severe weather that produced twisters in Michigan, Tennessee and other states. Storms rolled into Tallahassee, Florida, where numerous trees were toppled around the state’s capital city, authorities said Friday. Appeals court upholds Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress conviction
A federal appeals court panel on Friday upheld the criminal conviction of Donald Trump’s longtime ally Steve Bannon for defying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit rejected Bannon's challenges to his contempt of Congress conviction. Bannon had been sentenced to four months in prison, but the judge overseeing the case had allowed him to stay free pending appeal.

Protesters attempt to storm Tesla German plant, clash with police
Protesters opposed to expansion of U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla's plant in Grueneheide near Berlin clashed with police as some of them attempted to storm the facility on Friday. Some 800 people took part in the protest, according to the organising group Disrupt Tesla, which claims the expansion would damage the environment. "Why do the police let the left-wing protestors off so easily?" Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote on his social medial platform X, adding that the demonstrators didn't manage to break through.

FOREX-Dollar rises after consumer sentiment data, yen weaker
The dollar inched higher on Friday as investors digested a reading on U.S. consumer sentiment and sifted through a flurry of comments from Federal Reserve officials, while the yen was poised for its fourth decline of the week. The greenback pared declines and turned modestly higher after the University of Michigan's preliminary of consumer sentiment came in at 67.4 for May, a six-month low and below the 76.0 estimate of economists polled by Reuters. Next week investors will eye readings on inflation in the form of the consumer price index (CPI) and producer price index (PPI), as well as retail sales data.
