Watch Jeff Goldblum Nail a Game of '5 Degrees of Jeff Goldblum'

Jeff Goldblum is a man of many talents. Yes, he’s a star of stage and screen, brining his quick-witted, cerebral magnetism to favorites like The Fly, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and The Life Aquatic. He’s also an accomplished jazz pianist who plays with a band known as the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

But did you know that Goldblum has near-encyclopedic cinematic knowledge? Those who have been lucky enough to see him perform jazz at his weekly Los Angeles residency have borne witness to this, as the actor-musician works the crowd in between songs, which typically involves a game where he connects himself to other actors through shared collaborations. Those who worked with him on his highly anticipated new sequel Independence Day: Resurgence have seen it, too: Goldblum’s costars told us he’d make them play a version of the same game between takes on set.

So we knew we had to showcase this talent for the masses in a game we call 5 Degrees of Jeff Goldblum: It’s like the old party game 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, only with one less degree, and Jeff Goldblum.

Watch above as Goldblum — who this week reprises his role of tech (and chess) genius David Levinson in Resurgence — works the neurons to connect himself to Meryl Streep, Macaulay Culkin, Jennifer Lawrence, and more… including Kevin Bacon, natch.
