What to Watch Friday: ‘Dateline’ updates Myrtle Beach Spring Break murder case

Here’s what to watch tonight.

“Dateline: The Last Walk” (9 p.m., NBC)

Keith Morrison confronts Raymond Moody, the convicted killer of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel, who disappeared during her Spring Break in Myrtle Beach in 2009. Moody pleaded guilty to Drexel’s murder in October this year. “Dateline” has reported on this case for more than a decade now.

Morrison also talks to Georgetown County Sheriff investigator Phil Hanna, Myrtle Beach Police investigator Mike Hull and Captain Kin McKenzie of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, who reveal an exclusive inside look at how they zeroed in on Moody. Hanna tells Morrison that when they asked Moody to come talk to them about the case, he said: “I don’t have nothing to say to y’all. He said, ‘you’re good detectives, you figure it out.” Hull also tells Morrison how the evidence kept leading to dead ends, explaining: “We used to say all the time, ‘the devil himself is helping him,’ because every time we would start to run something down, it’d be like, ‘yeah it looks good, but it isn’t enough.”

Friday’s special will also include interviews with Drexel’s father Chad Drexel, Detective Traci Chanaca, Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson and FBI Assistant Special Agent In Charge Reid Davis.
