Triangle postseason runs: How to watch UNC, Duke and NC State in NCAA tournaments

There is plenty of action to keep up this week as tennis, softball and lacrosse teams across the Triangle make postseason runs.

N.C. State, UNC and Duke women’s tennis all advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. The Blue Devils and Wolfpack will face each other in the next round.

The Tar Heels will face Pepperdine. All of the Elite Eight matches will take place at Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Urbana, Illinois.

It will be the second consecutive trip to the Elite Eight for N.C. State, and it will be the third trip in four years for the Blue Devils.

The Wolfpack (26-5) defeated California (18-8) 4-0 on Saturday. Duke (22-3) beat Georgia, 4-1, on Friday night.

UNC (27-2), the No. 1 seed, defeated Florida, 4-0, in Cary on Friday.

UNC women’s LAX continues dominance

The top-seeded UNC women’s lacrosse team advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament with a 24-2 win over Virginia on Sunday. The 24 goals are the most in school history for an NCAA tournament contest.

The Tar Heels (19-0) will make their 17th straight trip to the quarterfinals. UNC will look to make the semifinals for the fourth consecutive time and 10th trip in the last 13 years. Carolina has won 32 straight home games, the most in school history. The Tar Heels are 13-0 this season against ranked teams.

Duke softball makes history

The Duke Blue Devils softball team will host an NCAA regional for the first time in school history.

Duke (41-8) is coming off an 8-6 loss to Florida State in the ACC tournament semifinals. The Blue Devils are one of 16 teams that will host a regional. No. 12 Duke, which started its softball program in 2017, is in the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. They are one of two ranked teams in their regional. Georgia, ranked No. 18, is the other. The Bulldogs will take on Liberty.
