Watch How Dior Came up With the Map Motif for SS23

Dior made a successful return to Paris Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2023 showcase. Taking a cue from its rich heritage, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri adorned her pieces with a motif inspired by the image of a map of Paris from the house’s archives.

In the latest savoir-faire, Chiuri expressed how the concept represents the relationship between Dior’s big tradition and French culture. “I wanted to introduce within the collection this fragment of a map that I found on a scarf from the ‘50s in the Dior archives,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Head of Dior Heritage Soizic Pfaff revealed the origin and the history of the Turgot Paris map. “It’s not only a physical map, it’s also a mental map,” Chiuri described the motif. “Each of us when we’re walking in a city in some way has our own references that somehow make the city feel closer to us.”
