Warner Bros Are ‘Not Concerned’ By Batman V Superman Box Office Slump

In the wake of ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s’ box office drop of 68% in its second weekend Warner Bros. are deciding to remain positive.

Despite the fact that the superhero hybrid faced no real competition over the last few days it only grossed $51.8 million domestically, which was a huge decrease from the $166 million it took last weekend.

But despite this sharp decline Warner Bros. aren’t concerned. That’s according to the studio’s domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein, who explained to The Hollywood Reporter that they’re looking at the bigger picture.

“We’re not concerned with the drop,” Goldstein explained. “No matter how you slice it, to get to $52 million on any given weekend is an enormous accomplishment. We’re not focused on where we are in total. And our global number is huge.”

Obviously it’s unsurprising to hear Warner Bros. trying to put a positive spin on what’s one of the biggest drops in cinematic history for a superhero film.

However, despite the critical mauling that the film has received, there are still many reasons why the studio can afford to smile. That’s because at $682 million worldwide it has already steamed past ’Man Of Steel’s’ $668 million, as well as ‘Thor: The Dark World’s’ $644 million, ‘Iron Man 2’s’ $623 million, and ‘Ant-Man’s’ $519.3 million.

The biggest concern for the studio now is whether ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ will gross over $1 billion, which it had previously been predicted the film would do a canter.

But thanks to its mediocre reviews and the general malaise over its release that’s looking more and more unlikely, despite the fact that the film revolves around two of the most iconic characters in pop culture history.
