Warner Bros Accidentally Flags Up Its Own Websites For Piracy

Piracy is massive problem for the movie business, so much so that major studios fight an unending battle to shut down websites which infringe on their copyright.

However, in its blanket requests to search providers to take down the offending sites, Warner Bros appears to have flagged itself up as a pirate.

Several times.

Spotted by the eagle eyes at the Torrentfreak website, a huge list of sites infringing on the studio’s copyright include many of its own.

The list also includes Amazon, where you can buy its DVDs legit, the Sky Cinema store, and also the IMDB listings for their movies.

Movies from the studio which feature on the list include ‘The Matrix’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Lucky One’.

Sounds like someone was being a bit over zealous.

A company specialising in combatting copyright infringement called Vobile was responsible for filing the list on behalf of Warners.

And according to the report, Google spotted the error and have not removed Amazon and IMDB from its searches.

However, seemingly Warner’s own sites remain under review.
