The Wanted's Tom Parker, who sadly passed away in March after a terminal brain cancer diagnosis, has shared in his posthumous autobiography, Hope, that a fellow celebrity helped to pay his medical bills during whilst he was seeking various treatments in the hopes of prolonging his life. Tom first shared the news of his failing health with fans back in October 2020.

In an extract of his book [published via The Sun], Tom said that fellow singer Ed Sheeran had been a great support to himself and his family, on both an emotional and financial level.

"Pretty much from the moment I was diagnosed, Ed Sheeran reached out to me with an offer to do anything he could to help," the father of two wrote. "I've never publicly said this before (and he'll probably be mad that I'm doing it now) but Ed is a very special man - he even helped out with my medical bills when I was seeking other treatment options and having private immunotherapy.

"He didn't need to do any of that, but my wife Kelsey and I are so grateful to him for his support. It meant the world."

Ed has not publicly commented on his friend's words but following Tom's death, he posted a sweet tribute to him on Instagram, writing: "So sad to hear of Tom’s passing. Thoughts and love are with Kelsey, his children and his family. Very sad day, what a lovely guy x".

Tom's sad passing was announced by his wife, Kelsey, on 30 March. Alongside a family photo and a portrait of Tom, she told her followers the gutting news and said that she was incredibly proud of her husband.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side. Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence," Kelsey said.

"We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children. Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you."
