Avengers: Endgame originally featured a scene that would have made WandaVision even more emotional.

WandaVision gave Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Paul Bettany’s Vision an inventive swansong following the latter’s death in 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War.

It’s revealed in the Disney Plus series, over the course of nine episodes, that following Wanda’s return from the blip, she finds Vision’s body has been dismantled by SWORD.

Shortly after, she finds a purchase deed for a house in Westview, New Jersey that had been registered by Vision before his death at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Due to an outpouring of grief when visiting the plot, she creates the sitcom world of WandaVision, where she lives out a life of happiness with a fake version of Vision.

In the finale, she realises the effect her actions have taken on the residents of Westview, whom she has essentially been torturing the entire time.

After fulfilling her prophecy and becoming the Scarlet Witch, she removes the Hex from Westview after saying her final farewells to Vision in scenes branded some of the MCU’s most heartbreaking to date.

With this in mind, a cut scene from 2019 blockbuster Endgame packs even more of a punch when considering what transpires in WandaVision.

Speaking to IMDb, Bettany said: “There was going to be a tag where [Wanda] opens a bodybag drawer and there was the Vision.”

The British actor continued: “Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] kind of talked to me and said, ‘I’ve got to pull the shot.’ I was like, ’Argh! Because I really wanted that profit participation.”

In hindsight, the small scene would have had the benefit of not only setting up WandaVision, but becoming more powerful upon rewatch due to the show’s events.
