Walmart extends delivery hours for orders coming from stores, including Black Friday deals

You can get your Thanksgiving turkey, Black Friday deals and Christmas tree delivered from Walmart stores this holiday season.

The world’s largest retailer announced Thursday that it is "delivering added convenience” with extended store delivery hours, more delivery windows and increased selection for same-day and next-day orders coming from local stores.

“We are extending our delivery hours by two hours meaning drivers will be making deliveries from stores to doors until 10 p.m. local time,” Tom Ward, Walmart U.S. senior vice president of last mile, said in a blog post Thursday. “This allows customers to place orders up to 6 p.m. for same day or next day deliveries.”

Ward said customers will also have additional time to "amend their order after it’s placed, so if you forget to add a can of pumpkin pie filling for your Thanksgiving meal or you’re in need of a last-minute hostess gift – you’ll have more time to add it to your cart."

Oversized items, including 70-inch televisions, artificial Christmas trees, bicycles, can also be delivered locally from more than 2,800 stores as soon as same day, Ward said.

Earlier in the week, Walmart announced it was bringing back its monthlong “Black Friday Deals for Days” in November for the second year. Instead of one sale that has traditionally started on Thanksgiving, there will be three different Black Friday sales online and in stores like last year.

Walmart Express delivery and more delivery windows

Fast deliveries may come at a cost.

Walmart says customers can pay $7.95 to $9.95 for a one-time delivery and an additional $10 fee to get their order in two hours or less with express delivery.

Members of Walmart's subscription program, Walmart+, get access to unlimited free deliveries all season long. But for express delivery, Walmart+ members do have to pay the express fee.

Walmart stores closed on Thanksgiving

Walmart stores will be closed this Thanksgiving for the second time since the late 1980s because of the pandemic.

Walmart said pickup and delivery from stores will operate "as normal the day before Thanksgiving and will resume at 12 p.m. local time the day after."
