Wait, So The Joker Isn’t A Member Of Suicide Squad?

The latest ‘Suicide Squad’ trailer was all kinds of yes.

Not only did it feature the best use of Bohemian Rhapsody since ‘Wayne’s World’, but it proved that each and every member of the devilish posse will be gloriously up to no good in the comic book adaptation.

It also gave us our best look yet at Jared Leto’s Joker, as he was seen firing off a rifle in a tuxedo, driving around in a flash sports-car with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, laughing maniacally, and even doing a perfect dive.

Despite the fine array of talent and tantalising characters in ‘Suicide Squad’, Leto’s Joker is the main draw. But what’s his standing in the film? Well, Geoff Johns has provided further information on the villain that suggests he’s not fully in cahoots with the rest of the gang, and he’s more of a rogue.

“I will only say he’s not exactly a member of the ‘Suicide Squad’,” the DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer explained during the ‘Dawn Of The Justice League’ special that aired on The CW in the US on Tuesday, via Comic Book.com.

So what does that mean? Well, one theory is that he’s the one that’s actually being hunted by the ‘Suicide Squad’, while the same has also been teased about Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress.

Or, it could just be that The Joker becomes involved to re-connect with Harley Quinn. The trailer showed that she is in prison at one point in the film – we never see The Joker in chains – while we also see The Joker howling as he cradles Harley Quinn’s body, a scene that’s speculated to be the catalyst for her transition from Dr. Harleen Quinzel into her insane alter-ego.

Obviously it’s all guesswork at the moment. But we don’t have long to wait until we find out as ‘Suicide Squad’ will finally be released on August 5, 2016. OK, that’s still ages away. But at least ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ is only two months from cinemas.
