Spotify Wrapped gets the AI treatment through Google partnership
It's that time of year again, and no, I'm not talking about the holiday season or the post-Thanksgiving gym session. Spotify Wrapped is back (SPOT) to remind music lovers of their most listened-to songs and favorite artists from this past year, and it wouldn't be 2024 without a smidge of AI thrown in there. Steven Johnson, the Head of Editorial at Google Labs (GOOG, GOOGL), joins Josh Lipton and Akiko Fujita to talk about the AI partnership with Spotify to build out an AI-generated podcast to accompany users' Wrapped experience, built with Google NotebookLM. "The software effectively looks at your listening history, it knows a little bit about the kind of the artists in question and their... records and their sensibility... and it turns that into this kind of playful banter, discussing what was interesting about your year in music," Johnson tells Yahoo Finance.
