Vote for The Charlotte Observer HS football offensive player of the week (10.07.22)

Here are the nominees for The Charlotte Observer’s high school offensive player of the week. The poll will close Friday.

Note: results may not be shown all week, but the poll will remain open until Friday midday.

This week’s nominees

Chris Culliver, Maiden: in a 60-6 win over West Caldwell, the UNC recruit caught nine passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns.

Will Curtis, Watauga: In a 56-7 win over West Caldwell, Curtis ran 24 times for 181 yards and five touchdowns. Teammate Maddox Green, a sophomore quarterback, also had a strong game: rushing 11 times for 93 yards and a score and throwing for 146 yards and another.

Aidan Gallos, Providence Day: freshman running back ran 11 times for 117 yards and three touchdowns in a 55-20 win over rival Charlotte Country Day.

Elijah Holmes, Olympic: 13-of-13 passings for 285 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Palisades. Holmes also rushed once for seven yards and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Jawarn Howell, Mooresville: in a 40-28 come-from-behind win at Providence, Howell ran 16 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

Will Jones, Cannon School: 23 carries for 250 yards and three touchdowns, plus a receiving score in a 47-0 win over Harrells Christian.

Kaden Kline, Central Cabarrus: 320 yards passing, a career-high, plus four TDs, in a 43-20 win over South Rowan.

Zach Lawrence, Butler: QB was 6-for-6 for 126 yards and five touchdowns in a 76-8 win over East Mecklenburg.

Justin Little, Independence: in a 75-0 win over Garinger, the sophomore quarterback completed 11-of-16 passes for 201 yards and two scores. He ran two times for 82 yards and two scores.

Xavier McCleave, Bunker Hill: junior wide receiver had nine catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-34 win over West Lincoln Thursday as his team improved to 6-0. McCleave also had five carries for 22 yards. In all, he had 197 all-purpose yards.

Tony McFadden, Sun Valley: rushed for three touchdowns in a 35-13 win over Cuthbertson.

Dashawn Medley, Hickory: In a 42-28 win over St. Stephens, Medley had five catches for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He had two carries for 78 yards and a score. That’s seven touches 302 yards and four scores in all.

Adriel Miller, Central Cabarrus: senior wide receiver caught seven passes for 197 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-20 win over South Rowan. Miller also had an interception on defense and was named Homecoming King at halftime.

Beylor Morgan, Ardrey Kell: 19 carries for 148 yards and three touchdowns in a win at rival Myers Park Thursday.

Mozes Morris, Lake Norman: freshman running back ran 14 times for 112 yards and a score in Thursday’s 34-16 win over West Cabarrus. He also had an 85-yard kickoff return for a score.

Noah Murphy, Pine Lake Prep: In a 21-10 win over Christ The King, Murphy ran 31 times for 231 yards and a touchdown.

Tre’ Robinson, Mallard Creek: in a 48-3 win over West Meck, Robinson completed 14-of-21 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown. He ran six times for 67 yards and two scores.

AJ Sirianni, Community School of Davidson: only playing one half of Thursday’s 42-16 win over Winston-Salem Carver, Sirianni was 25-of-29 passing for six touchdowns.
