Volcanic Lava Flows From Hawaii's Mauna Loa

Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano erupted for the first time in nearly 40 years late Sunday night, November 27, Hawaiian emergency officials confirmed.

Video provided by DVIDS shows the lava flowing down one side of the largest volcano in the world on Monday.

The Hawaii Volcano Observatory said there was no threat to nearby communities at that time.

The National Weather Service canceled an ash advisory on Monday, but warned people that low air quality would persist. Credit: DVIDS via Storyful
