Kelly Clarkson is trading the stage for the football field for an incredible reason.
Back in December, The Voice coach revealed that amid her busy schedule working on the hit singing competition show and hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show, she was selected to lead the 2023 NFL Honors. Airing on February 9, the sports organization describes the two-hour awards special as a moment that highlights "the best players, performances and plays from the 2022 NFL season."
"Y'all! I'm so excited to announce that I'll be hosting the 2023 @nfl Honors!" she wrote on December 16. "I can’t wait to celebrate all of the best players and moments from the NFL season. 📺: 9 PM ET / 8 PM CT on February 9th on @nbc, @peacocktv, and @nflnetwork."
As soon as Kelly shared the news on social media, The Voice fans immediately expressed their excitement about the unique opportunity. What's more, it sparks a fun idea for the future.

As for how the American Idol alum reacted to being asked to host the NFL Honors, she wasn't sure how to take it. "I had mixed feelings," she told Access Daily about the primetime TV event. "I was like, 'Now, wait, I’m not involved in sports ball whatsoever. 'Shouldn’t you ask someone who’s involved in the sports community?'"
Viewers who regularly tune into her daytime TV show may know that she doesn't have extensive knowledge about football, even jokingly calling it "sportsball." Thankfully, the "Behind These Hazel Eyes" singer got over her initial jitters. But thinking ahead, maybe the NFL might just consider listening to her fans about a musical performance in the future ...
