Viola Davis Has A Three Picture DC Deal, Was ‘Blown Away’ By Suicide Squad

Viola Davis is going to play quite a big part in ‘Suicide Squad’. Sure, her character, Amanda Waller, doesn’t have the superpowers, killing steak, or muscles of the likes of the Joker, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn, but in many other ways she’s even more despicable, because she’s so human.

Davis has confirmed that Waller, who is the ruthless government official that draws the ‘Suicide Squad’ together, will be causing mischief for more than just next summer’s blockbuster, as she revealed to The New York Times, via Comic Book, that she’s signed a three picture deal with DC.

Waxying lyrical about her time working on the film, Davis remarked, “This is my first big superhero movie. I signed on for three, so it needed to be a great a great experience. This was a role that was just there to be fun. It was a chance to work with Will Smith, you know?”

And clearly her time maxin’ relaxin’ with Will Smith on the set of ‘Suicide Squad’ was completely worth it, because during another interview with Deadline Davis admitted that she has so far been blown away by the movie.

After discussing how writer and director David Ayer has managed to humanise the likes of Batman, Harley Quinn, and the Joker, by exploring the “pathology behind all of these characters, so you just get that extra spin that gives the flavour and a look which is very different,” Davis then spoke glowingly about what she’s seen of the film.

“At the same time, you get all the stuff that you’ve gotten before, which is the action, the special effects, the great makeup,” Davis continued. “I’m blown away by the movie. Once I saw the trailer, I was like, ‘Oh, my God. He really is a magician.’ I mean, I had no idea. It’s been a real pleasure working on it with David Ayer.”

The Comic-Con trailer for ‘Suicide Squad’ certainly managed to garner a surprising amount of interest from movie folks. So much so in fact that it eclipsed the amount of views of ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s’ own trailer from the event.

We’ll have to wait and see whether they can repeat this success at the box office next summer. But either way, by the time ‘Batman v Superman’ has rolled out on March 25, 2016, and ‘Suicide Squad’ has followed it on August 7, 2016, you can expect Warner Bros. to have pocketed quite a pretty penny.
