Montreal police are investigating after a gunshot victim showed up to a local hospital, and died shortly after.

Police received a call at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday regarding a person who had gone to hospital with gunshot wounds, according Const. Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the SPVM.

However, details are scarce at this moment, and it's not clear when and where the victim was initially injured.

Montreal police investigators are also at the scene of a shooting in the Southwest borough. Chèvrefils said police received calls at around 4:15 a.m. about shots being fired at the corner de Sève and Drake Streets.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings, but there were no victims in the area. No one has been arrested.

It's not clear if the two events are linked.
