A Vancouver man charged with drunk and dangerous driving after a single-vehicle crash that killed two people in 2021 has pleaded guilty.
In an email to CBC, the B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed that 22-year-old Tim Carl Robert Goerner pleaded guilty last week to two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
On Sept. 26, 2021, Emily Selwood and Evan Smith, both 18, were killed in the early morning hours after a vehicle veered onto a sidewalk, striking both of them. Selwood and Smith were both students at UBC.
At the time, police said the driver was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with minor injuries.
About one year later, police said Goerner had been charged with drunk and dangerous driving.
A sentencing hearing has been set for November 6.
