A van driver is in a "serious" condition after being pinned against his own vehicle by a furious 4x4 driver in a road rage attack.

Police say that the victim was driving along a narrow country lane in Staplehurst, Kent on Sunday afternoon where he met a cream coloured four-wheel drive vehicle travelling the opposite direction.

The 4x4 driver stopped before driving his vehicle into the van pushing it backwards for around 10 yards.

When the van driver got out of his cab, it is alleged the suspect then collided with him, pinning the victim against his own van before speeding off.

There have been no arrests.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident at around 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

Detective sergeant Tom Daveney, of Maidstone CID, said: "Investigators would like to hear from anybody who may know the driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle or might have seen it in the Staplehurst area.

"Anyone who was in the village at the time of the incident with dash cam fitted to their vehicle should also get in contact."
