If someone had said two years ago that a vaccine card would mean so much to us in summer 2021, we never would have believed it. Now your vaccine card is shaping up to become an essential life accessory. It belongs in that reminder list we repeat to ourselves when we leave the house ("phone, wallet, keys...vaccine card"). And if you're traveling, it functions practically as a second passport.

So yeah, it's a pretty important little piece of paper, so you need to treat it that way. Thing is, one of the ways in which it's unique is its size: It's not credit card– or business card–sized, so it doesn't fit in the card slots in standard wallets. You don't want to tuck it into a billfold because it might get bent. Laminating might seem like the solution, but it's not. Why? Future booster shots, if needed, have to be recorded on this card. If it's laminated, the nurse will not be able to write on it.

But there is a solution: this clear card protector we found at Amazon. It's perfect for keeping your vaccine card safe, clean and accessible — and it's on sale.

Shop it: Clear Vaccination Card Protector, $4 for two (was $5), $5 for five (was $8), $6 for 10 (was $10), amazon.com

Certain schools, businesses and event venues already require a vaccination card. Plus, while proof of vaccine may not be a requirement of flying, some countries have made vaccination cards a requirement for entering, same as a passport.

Plus, there are plenty of perks to brandishing a card (besides the health ones, that is): Some businesses are actually offering discounts or free items when you show proof of vaccination. Krispy Kreme will give one free glazed donut a day to folks who show their vaccine card. Budweiser will "buy a beer" for a certain number of people who upload a photo of their card. On a more serious note, the CDC recommends snapping a photo of your vaccine card—and reminds us that we may need these cards in the future.

At 4" x 3", this holder is slightly larger than most Covid-19 vaccine cards (size varies by state, so measure before you buy) and made of a thick, sturdy waterproof plastic that's clear in front and slightly textured in back for a good grip. A center slot and two side holes allow you to affix a lanyard or badge reel for easy, hands-free portability — perfect if you need to present your card at work or at the airport. The plastic doesn't block barcodes or QR codes for scanners, so you can slip your work ID in there too.

It's available in a two-pack for $4, $5 for five or $6 for ten — so you can get them for family, friends or fellow employees. It's got more than 2,000 reviews from satisfied customers.

The reviewer who posted the picture above shared how practical this purchase was: "As you can see, my COVID card easily fits inside, with extra room on the side and top. My card measures just a hair under 4” wide and 3” tall. If I needed to display or wear the card, to get into an event or facility, it comes with holes at the top to attach to a lanyard, or an eyeglass chain. This holder would also be great for any type of employee badge or ID you needed to constantly display on your person..."

This reviewer says it still fits in their wallet even with the case on, "These sleeves were the perfect size for my vaccination card. I had to fold over the top of the sleeve, where the holes are, in order to fit in my wallet, but my card isn't bent. I like that these sleeves have a zip-lock– type seal. I wouldn't have to worry that the card could accidentally fall out. It'll help protect it from moisture, too (although not meant to be fully submerged I'm sure!)."

Another reviewer thought it was a smarter alternative to laminating, "These clear vaccination card packs are great. Two of them for this price was a real bargain. I don't want to laminate the card because who knows if we will have to add information on booster shots or any other information on the vaccination card in the future . With this card holder it keeps the card neat and clean but still allows access in the future if necessary..."

Grab this card holder before you misplace, bend or dirty your vaccine card.
