USC wide receiver Joseph Lewis has been suspended following an arrest on accusations of domestic abuse.
“USC takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and is cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation,” the school said in a statement. “While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student has been suspended from all football-related activities. Student disciplinary records and student conduct proceedings are confidential at USC and protected by law.”
Lewis was arrested at approximately 2 p.m. Monday on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant according to the Los Angeles Times. His bail was set at $50,000 and ESPN reported he was released at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.
A freshman in 2017, Lewis had four catches for 39 yards. He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2017 and listed as the No. 6 wide receiver in the country according to Rivals.
